Meet the captain: Steve Roose

Steve Roose is the experienced skipper of Oceana Sailing, with an impressive maritime background. Between 2016 and 2018, he and his family embarked on an adventurous journey from Nieuwpoort to Australia aboard the Oceana I. This trip marked an important chapter in his life, and the boat was eventually sold in the harbor of Sydney.

Steve's passion for sailing began at a young age in Blankenberge, where he became fascinated by the sailing yachts coming in and out of the harbor. He frequently sailed with friends, which only deepened his love for the sea. He realized that competitive sailing wasn't for him, but he had a strong desire to undertake grand adventures and long journeys at sea. With determination, he obtained his Yachtman certification, turning his dream of becoming a professional skipper into reality.

In 2014, Steve became the proud owner of his first boat, Oceana I. From the harbor of Nieuwpoort, he organized team-building experiences at sea until 2016, sharing his passion for sailing with others and helping teams become stronger.

With the new Oceana II, Steve aims to make even more adventures at sea possible starting in 2025. We offer multi-day sailing adventures, team-building at sea, and leadership coaching. Steve's experience and dedication ensure that every journey with Oceana Sailing is an unforgettable experience.

Meet our coach and specialist: Dana Ketels

Dana Ketels is a crucial member of the Oceana Sailing team. Inspired by Steve's enthusiasm and her own drive for travel and adventure, she wholeheartedly joined the sailing journey. As Steve's partner, she sailed to Australia with their family, further developing her love for the sea.

Dana is a certified coach and specialist in non-verbal behavior. Her skills as a "deckhand" and team coach make her an indispensable observer and guide for our team-building programs with coaching. With her company, Impact Academy, Dana works on self-awareness, (personal) leadership, resilience and transparent communication, inspiring others to reach their full potential.

Together with Steve, Dana has developed a unique team-building program for leadership teams. This program is focused on challenging collaboration and communication, sharing observations, and encouraging teams to develop more effective methods of cooperation.

On board Oceana Sailing, Dana offers the perfect combination of adventure and personal growth. Her experience and expertise ensure that every journey is not only unforgettable but also a valuable learning experience for everyone on board.
